Short-form and long-form birth records

A short-form certificate may list core birth details, while a long-form record can reproduce the full registry entry and later changes. The translation covers the version supplied. Lumi does not decide which version a filing requires; confirm that with the recipient before ordering or requesting a replacement from the registry.

Parent names, accents and name variations

Parent names, accents, multiple surnames and the child's registered name are checked as separate fields. Provide a passport spelling as a reference when useful, but the source certificate must not be silently rewritten to match it. A difference between documents can be flagged for your review without inventing a correction.

Marginal notes, amendments and handwritten entries

A later annotation can record a name change, adoption or correction. Its position in a margin does not make it optional content. Handwritten entries require a clear image, especially around dates and registry numbers. If a word cannot be read, a better scan may be needed; uncertain information is not guessed.

Seals, QR codes and attached apostilles

Include front and back, additional sheets and any attached apostille identified for translation. Readable wording around a QR code, seal or stamp is part of the record. The code itself is not translated or treated as authentication performed by Lumi. Keep page edges visible so registry details and certification text are not cut off.

What to Send and What You Receive

Send a clear copy of every page that belongs to the document, including the reverse side when it contains text, stamps, seals, notes, or authentication.

You receive a complete English translation of the submitted content, reviewed for names, dates, numbers, terminology, and internal consistency. USCIS-bound certified translations include a signed Certificate of Accuracy.
