A marriage license, an issued certificate and a registry extract may serve different purposes. The title and issuing authority are translated as shown, without turning a license into proof that a marriage occurred. Confirm which issued record is requested before sending a document for translation.

Spouse names before and after marriage

Some records distinguish a birth surname, former married name and name adopted after marriage. Those labels matter. The translation preserves each person's names in the appropriate fields rather than replacing all occurrences with a current name. Send related name-change records when the recipient has requested them.

Divorce notes and other later annotations

A marriage certificate may include a later divorce annotation, correction or change to the registry. Translate those notes along with the original entry, keeping the original marriage date separate from the date of the later event. A translated marriage certificate does not replace a separate divorce judgment when that judgment is requested.

Multi-page records and certification pages

Property-regime wording, witnesses, signature blocks, stamps and apostilles can occupy separate pages. Include them in the file review so the scope is explicit.
