Preserving the declarant's voice
A first-person statement should remain the declarant's account. Translate qualifications, uncertainty and quoted speech without improving the facts or making the story more persuasive. A statement is not rewritten as legal argument.
Dates, events and chronology
Names, places and dates connect a narrative to its supporting records. If the source gives conflicting dates, flag the discrepancy for review instead of silently choosing one. The translator cannot change the underlying statement.
Oaths, signatures and acknowledgments
An affidavit may contain oath wording, a signature and a notarial acknowledgment. Translate those components as shown. A translation's certification is separate from the original statement's oath or notarization.
Referenced exhibits and supporting records
Keep exhibit letters and numbers consistent with the attachments supplied. A referenced document is not included merely because it is mentioned in the narrative; identify which exhibits also need translation in the quote request.
