Parentage and civil details

Some national identity cards list parents, marital status or a birth-record reference. These fields are translated when present, even if a U.S. identity card would omit them. The source determines the scope.

Front, back and renewal information

The reverse may show issue dates, biometric statements, signatures or renewal notes. Send both sides if they contain information. Distinguish a card's expiration from the date on which a civil event occurred.

Names in multiple scripts

Where the card includes more than one script, all printed name versions provide context. A passport can supply an additional spelling reference. The translation does not replace the card's wording with an unverified preferred spelling.
